A NATION AT CROSSROAD

Beloved, we all need to seek the face of the CREATOR, to divinely bestow His mercy on our nation Nigeria, lead us in the right direction and calm the storm that is overhanging thus preventing untold hardship and bloodshed in the guise of a civil war.

This is not the time to apportion blames, but a time to take concrete actions that will bring peace and progress to our father land.

The elites in the various sectors of the society should relinquish their pride and face the reality that the country is on its way to doomsday. It is time for all of us to call for a referendum as to which way to go.

I humbly suggest restructuring by creating societal structures that cut across tribal ethnic and religious divides. We cannot afford to leave the youth in our society to face the bleak future that is staring at them, especially those of them that are illiterates.

Is we abandon our brothers in the core North who constitute 87% of the poor and illiterate in Nigeria, we are simply “cutting our nose to spite our face”, because they are still our African brothers.

Our focus now should be developing strategies to attack illiteracy and poverty all over Africa starting with Nigeria.

This brings me to the need to appeal to our political elite, that they should face the reality that Nigeria is a very poor country. A situation in which they live in affluence in the midst of poverty is uncalled for. Apportioning to themselves fantastic salaries and allowances in a country where the majority can hardly eat (1) one meal in a day is uncalled for.

It becomes more painful when they also complicate issues by looting the treasury when they are in key positions.

As much as possible, “white elephant projects” should be avoided and the nation should focus more on improving the welfare of the citizens. National Security, Education, Food Security (Agriculture), Health should top the list of budgetary allocations.

Though, I belong to a faith that is being persecuted, I still implore my brethren to protect themselves, persist in prayers and still demonstrate UNCONDITIONAL LOVE towards all.

May OLODUMARE guide us in the journey ahead.

Shalom
